It is, of course, nice to talk about leads generation and implementation of voice broadcast campaigns yet we almost never speak about how to actually obtain a database of targeted prospective customers. You can’t just pick up a copy of White Pages and start calling anyone. This is not a good practice of cold calling. What you want is people who might be interested in your product, i.e. targeted customers.

Sometimes it can take years to generate a database of targeted sales leads and you don’t want to spend these years. So if your business is new and you don’t have a database of your own, to start a successful voice braodcasting campaign, you will need an external database.

There are some companies around offering ready databases tailored specially for voice broadcast campaigns. It is a good idea but the downside of these services is that you have to pay up-front and you can never now whether your telemarketing campaign will be successful or not. For your safety, never ever go with a company who charge you for each voice broadcast message. They can claim giving you a database of let’s say 1,000 targeted leads but when you send a thousand messages you can end up having a zero response.

Be Charged Only For Transfers

To avoid this situation, search for a company that charges you only for transfers. A transfer is when a recipient is interested in your voice broadcast message and clicks a button to connect to your customer adviser to ask additional questions. So, you will not be charged for recipients who just ignore your message. You must bear in mind, however, that if you receive a transfer, it doesn’t automatically mean there will be an interested customer on the line. He may as well say: “Hey, who are you and why the heck you’re calling me?”. This is just a risk you have to take.

There’s a company called NrLeads offering their own databases of targeted leads for your voice broadcasting campaign. It is not cheap!

Here’s the pricing structure:
Setup Fee: $500, includes two recordings of your message;
DoNotCall List Compliance Fee: $250 per voice broadcast campaign;
Targeted List Usage Fee: $250 per each campaign;
Each transfer(potential customer): $12

You need to order 200 transfers minimum. So to sum this up, to have 200 targeted customers, you will spend $3,400. About 70% of these transfers will lead to a purchase. What about the rest of 30%? Well, some of them will not be interested in your product - they might be just curious, or they might misunderstand the voice broadcast message. This leaves you with 140 customers. To break even, you have to cash in at least $24.28 from each customer. But you don’t want to break even, you need profit, right? Well, to be honest, if your product or service is any cheaper than $100, just don’t bother. This is not for you.
