It is LinkedIn that caught my eye recently. Basically, it is a service for professionals (and isn’t telemarketing professional) to showcase their business, maintain their image and what is more important - create new business contacts and work on lead generation.
If Digg, Facebook and similar sites are swarming with people that are hiding their identity, LinkedIn is just the opposite - you go there revealing your real name, your business, just about everything. And the more transparent you are, the more business you generate.
In the era when cold-calling is not so effective (it is still good enough but only if you elaborate) it is good to have a networking service where you can share ideas, talk to other people and generate business to business leads. Many start-up and established businesspersons have already generated a good amount of sales leads using LinkedIn.
To be successful in marketing, you have to diversify your efforts. There are a lot of different ways to generate sales leads: telemarketing, good old face to face networking and now there is LinkedIn. Give it a try!

Agree completly with you on the need to diversify your efforts!
A reffereal through a Linkedin contact is worth it’s weight in Gold. Most people already have a vast network they can leverage some people may never need to cold call again?
Yes, it’s correct. Linkedin is one of the most important social networking sites. It’s getting the more unique traffic. I am using already Linkedin.
