It is rumored that Julius Genachowski, Obama’s technology adviser and fund-raiser, will become the head of FCC, the Federal Communications Commission.
Both Harward classmates - Obama and Genachowski - share an obsession for all thing techy and gadgety. It is not a secret that Obama is very keen to make USA the most wired county on Earth. Funnily enough, there are still plenty of rural and urban zones where there is no broadband available.
It is estimated that there will be tens of billions dollars up for grabs in tax incentives aimed at companies who could take on the challenge to wire USA.
Despite the global downturn and credit crisis in USA, the Telecommunications and IT sector is not really suffering. At least not to an extent where we could possibly speak about telecommunications crisis.
That’s why Obama believes that advanced technology is the right way forward for the nation. Genachowski, the possible candidate to lead Federal Communications Commission, will share his passion.
What does it mean for us, telemarketers? More wires and better technology will bring the prices down. We will soon find ourselves sending out voice broadcast messages at cheaper rates and using more VoIP (voice over IP) solutions in our everyday marketing tasks. That’s a good prospect!
