Scammers has recently combined a new scheme to get money for nothing. We have all heard about mad people trying to sell free copies of White Pages, now they have gone even further. Some scammers are sending voice broadcast messages to people urging them to sign up for the famous Do Not Call List. “No sales people will bother you any more”, that’s what the scammers say. Useless to mention that they ask for a small fee to include your number into the Do Not Call List. Many thousands of American people have already swollowed the bite.
The truth is that the Federal Trade Commission, which is responsible for the List, does not allow companies or any other third parties to register people for the List. All person to person, online or phone solicitations offering fast and pain-free registration are nothing else than a scam.
Keep in mind that, as a consumer, only you can register your own number to the Do Not Call List and the registration is completely free because Government provides it. You can add your number to the List by clicking here. Including your number in this Federal list will ensure the number of unsolicited phone calls received on your home phone or mobile will drop significantly.
Telemarketers and those planning to transmit their voice broadcast messages need to remember that your database of prospective clients should be checked against the Do Not Call List at least once per month. To read more about legal matters concerning telemarketing and cold calling, click here.
