Let me save you $2,200! As of October 1, 2008 subscription fees for telemarketers to access the Federal Do Not Call list (USA) will increase from $54 to $62 for each area code. The full DNC subscription will be increased from $14,850 to whopping $17,050.
Now, if you apply for access or if you renew your Do Not Call list membership before the new fees come into power, you get it for this year’s price.
For your telemarketing and voice broadcasting activities to be legal, you have to check your potential clients’ numbers against both federal and state DNC lists.

These do not call lists are amazing. The telemarketers over the past 5 years have gotten outrageous and are calling at all hours of the day and even at night. Sometimes I get calls at 3am in the morning and even up to 5am. I could not believe it. I had to change my telephone number and sign up for all of the Do not call lists and now I haven’t received a single telemarketer, I’m so happy.
As for saving money signing up for these list I now have you to thank, thanks.

Thanks for the info!
any reason why the costs are going up?
Shelly, there is no particular reason for prices going up right now. However, FTC has adopted a policy to increase the price every year. It is very costly to run a Do Not Call list, especially for a country as big as USA. Maybe that’s why Australian government started to cash extra money from telemarketers that would go directly towards maintaining the DNC list (read this http://www.voice-broadcast.com/telemarketing-blog/australian-businesses-pay-telemarketing-register/ )
From the administrative point of view, a very large apparatus that includes a wast staff and serious resources is working on the DNC list. You may argue that there might be other ways to cut the rising costs (cutting staff, for example) but it is just as it is…
P.S. Amber, sorry, it was too spicy
What specific site to go to, to register? I have been reading all afternoon about the rules on several websites by the gov. and I can not find the place where a seller can register for the federal do not call list???
Why do they make is so hard?

Don’t worry, you can register your telemarketing company for the Do Not Call list by following this link: DNC Registry
A small price to pay to avoid the fines involved by NOT checking the list!
